The Atlanta Chapter Annual Meeting was held at the Piedmont Driving Club on May 4, 2022. Signaling a release from the grips of the pandemic, this was our first in-person board meeting for the general membership in two years. Our president Leslie Petter thanked the entire membership for their dedication, persistence, and generosity during the two years of the pandemic. She acknowledged the role technology played in allowing our work to continue unabated and thanked the membership for the effort it took to keep up with the fast-moving advances. At the end of the meeting, with warm congratulations, Leslie passed the gavel to incoming president Sara Jean Burke and her newly elected Board.
Over lunch, Dr. Shivani Patel, a social epidemiologist and Assistant Professor in the Hubert Department of Global Health at Emory, shared her current research in the area of cardio-metabolic health disparities in the United States and her role serving on the India Alliance Early Career Fellowship Selection Committee that reviews postdoctoral applications in health and biomedical sciences in India.

Thank you very much for your support. It meant a lot. I had the opportunity to return to Tech as a faculty member last year. I’m very happy to be back and hope I can advise a future ARCS scholar soon!
